Following an exciting series of matches on the afternoon of September 9, the four teams that have advanced to the semifinals of the 2024 National U15 Championship – ACECOOK Cup have been determined.
The first quarterfinal match featured a clash between Bà Rịa Vũng Tàu and SHB Đà Nẵng. From the kickoff, Bà Rịa Vũng Tàu controlled the game and played better. However, it was SHB Đà Nẵng that surprisingly took the lead. In the 22nd minute, Nguyễn Hồng Gia Khánh scored to break the deadlock for the Central representatives.
In the second half, Bà Rịa Vũng Tàu’s efforts were soon rewarded. In the 49th minute, Nguyễn Lê Quang Khôi scored from a teammate’s pass to level the score at 1-1. Eighteen minutes later, Đậu Quang Hưng demonstrated his importance by scoring to put Bà Rịa Vũng Tàu ahead 2-1. In the remaining minutes, Coach Liêm Thanh’s team successfully defended their lead. Bà Rịa Vũng Tàu won the match and advanced to the semifinals.
The match between SLNA and Thể Công Viettel was thrilling right up to the final seconds. In the 25th minute, Trí Dũng scored to break the deadlock for the military team. However, defensive lapses led to a costly mistake. In the 35th minute, Minh Thủy equalized at 1-1 for SLNA. The Nghệ An team played well and ended the first half with the score tied.
In the second half, Thành Công put SLNA ahead 2-1. Thể Công Viettel’s efforts were rewarded in the 90th minute when Mạnh Cường scored to level the score at 2-2, sending the match into extra time. In the penalty shootout, Thể Công Viettel showed greater composure and won 4-1 against SLNA.
The match between PVF and LPBank HAGL did not live up to expectations. In the 7th minute, Văn Dương scored with a superb header to give PVF a 1-0 lead. Văn Vương then increased the lead to 2-0 for PVF with a precise strike in the 34th minute.
In the second half, LPBank HAGL tried to close the gap, but Gia Bảo extended PVF’s lead to 3-0 in the 78th minute with a close-range finish. Before the match ended, PVF added one more goal to secure a convincing 4-0 victory.
In the final quarterfinal match, Đông Á Thanh Hóa faced Đồng Nai. Coach Đỗ Trọng Hải’s team had a challenging 90 minutes. They played well and controlled the ball effectively but lacked precision in crucial moments.
The match went to a penalty shootout. Unfortunately, in the very first round of penalties, Thanh Bình missed his shot, which put Đông Á Thanh Hóa at a disadvantage. However, goalkeeper Tuấn Vũ made exceptional saves, allowing Thanh Hóa to come from behind and win the shootout 6-5 in a dramatic finish.
