U9 Gia Bảo Hải Dương has been crowned the champion of the National U9 Championship – Toyota Cup 2024
On the afternoon of August 25, at the Gia Lai Province Sports Arena, the National U9 Championship – Toyota Cup 2024 officially concluded with a thrilling final match between U9 Gia Bảo Hải Dương and U9 Sông Lam Nghệ An.
This was considered a dream final that fans across the country had been eagerly anticipating, as both teams had delivered impressive performances throughout the tournament. From the beginning of the match, both teams demonstrated why they deserved to be in the final. The game was marked by high-quality play and intense, determined action in every situation, leaving the audience on the edge of their seats. Both teams continuously created scoring opportunities, but luck was not on their side.
U9 Gia Bảo Hải Dương started the game strongly, creating several clear-cut scoring opportunities. However, the goalkeeper of the young Sông Lam Nghệ An team performed brilliantly, denying U9 Gia Bảo Hải Dương any goals. Meanwhile, forward An Hưng from U9 Sông Lam Nghệ An made several attempts to break through the opponent’s defense but was unable to overcome goalkeeper Đức Anh.
The balanced and intense game continued in the second half, but the Hải Dương representative finally found what they needed. In the 12th minute, during a rapid counterattack, goalkeeper Phúc Cương was forced to foul Hoàng Tiến in the penalty area. Đức Tiến calmly converted the penalty kick, giving coach Nguyễn Hùng Hoàng’s team a 1-0 lead.
With the score against them, U9 Sông Lam Nghệ An had to push forward and attack. However, as long as Đức Anh remained solid in goal, Đức Tiến struck again to seal the victory with a 2-0 win for his team. In the 39th minute, a shot from the number 6 player at a tight angle slightly deflected off a U9 Sông Lam Nghệ An defender before finding the back of the net.
The convincing 2-0 victory secured U9 Gia Bảo Hải Dương the championship title in their debut appearance at the tournament.
At the end of the tournament, the organizers awarded the championship trophy to U9 Gia Bảo Hải Dương, while U9 Sông Lam Nghệ An received the second-place trophy. The third-place award was shared by U9 TP. Hồ Chí Minh and U9 Câu lạc bộ Bóng đá Hà Nội.
In individual awards, Phạm Năng Trường Anh from U9 Gia Bảo Hải Dương was named the best player of the tournament, Trần Đỗ Khánh An, also from U9 Gia Bảo Hải Dương, won the best goalkeeper award, and Dương Trọng Đại from U9 Câu lạc bộ Hà Nội was awarded the top scorer.
At the closing ceremony, the organizers also presented numerous gifts to children living at SOS Children’s Village Pleiku.
