Vietnam women’s team got off to a good start
The 3-0 victory over Malaysia, in the first match at the 32nd SEA Games, brought 3 points for the Vietnamese women’s team.
The Vietnamese women’s team did not take too long to open the scoring against a weaker opponent, the Malaysian women’s team. Right at the 5th minute, coach Mai Duc Chung’s team opened the game. From the right wing pass of the teammates on the edge of the penalty area, Hai Yen shot a long shot, the ball went to the top corner of the goal, making the Malaysian goalkeeper unable to block.
After the early goal, the Vietnamese women’s team attacked heavily. In the 16th minute, My Anh entered the penalty area and shot a shot that was beyond the reach of the Malaysian goalkeeper, but the ball was on the bar. After that, Hai Yen rushed into the alluvial rock but was broken by the Malaysian goalkeeper right in front of the lime line. 3 minutes later, the ball found the Malaysian goal again. From a teammate’s right wing pass, bringing the ball into the penalty area, Huynh Nhu passed it back to Hai Yen to finish, but the ball hit the outer edge of the post.
In the 24th minute, the second goal came to the Vietnamese women’s team. Huynh Nhu poked a slot for Bich Thuy to get close to the 5m50 round and hit the Malaysian net. Not stopping there, by the 33rd minute, the score was 3-0 for the Vietnamese women’s team. Huynh Nhu received the ball close to the goal line, she hung the ball inside and accidentally hit the Malaysian defender who changed direction and went into the goal, to the surprise of the goalkeeper of the team.
In the second half, the Vietnamese women’s team had 2 changes, including Thanh Nha. 3 minutes after being on the field, this player almost scored. She launched an extremely tight finish, hit the foot of the Malaysian defender and then hit the crossbar to shake the opponent’s wooden frame.
However, from this moment, the Vietnamese women’s team started to slow down. Coach Mai Duc Chung also started to change some key players, in order to keep the strength for the upcoming matches. That’s why the Vietnamese women’s team is less of a threat to the Malaysian women’s defense. Even in a careless situation, the Vietnamese women’s team players almost conceded a goal in the 76th minute, when striker Soberi won the ball in the foot of the Vietnamese women’s defender and made a heart attack. The ball misses the post.
In the 83rd minute, Thanh Nha hung the ball from the right wing into the penalty area. Vu Thi Hoa jumped up to compete with the Malaysian goalkeeper, before Huynh Nhu took advantage of the opportunity to put the ball into the empty goal. However, the referee did not recognize the goal of the Vietnamese women’s team when she thought that Vu Thi Hoa had fouled the Malaysian goalkeeper before.
Closing the match with a 3-0 victory over Malaysia, the Vietnamese women’s team completed the goal of having 3 points in the opening match. On May 6, the Vietnamese women’s team will have an important match against the Myanmar women’s team. If you win against this opponent, the door to the semi-finals of coach Mai Duc Chung’s team is huge.
