Dong Tam Long An and the Republic of Korea”s Daejeon Citizen have reached the semi-finals of Binh Duong Television-sponsored invitational tournament/BTV Cup.

Dong Tam Long An, who beat Dalian Shide 4-2 in their opening game, trounced their bitter V-League rivals Hoang Anh Gia Lai 3-0 while Daejeon beat Dalian Shide 2-0 on November 18.

Dong Tam Long An started their game against Hoang Anh Gia Lai with a 4-3-2-1 formation with Minh Minh playing in front of Tshamala Kabanga and Antonio Rodrigues.

Henrique Calisto”s men quickly went in front with Rodrigues heading home the opener after Hoang Lam”s corner kick.

Ten minutes into the second half, Rodrigues set up Kabanga to double the lead as Dong Tam Long An were the better side.

Hoang Anh Gia Lai were reduced to ten men as goalie Ngoc Tu was sent off for handling outside the penalty box.

Therefore, Hoang Anh Gia Lai were completely outplayed by Dong Tam Long An, who hit post twice before substitute Nguyen Viet Thang scored the third goal.

With two victories, Dong Tam Long An and Daejeon, who won 2-0 over China”s Dalian Shide in another match, reached the semi-finals.

A day earlier, Brazil”s Matsubara trounced Thailand”s Chonburi 6-1, while hosts Binh Duong went 2-1 down to Da Nang.

Almeida scored a brace for Da Nang while Kesley Alves scored a consolation goal for the hosts.
