Head coach Polking and Quang Hải are confident about achieving a positive result against Buriram United.
At 19:30 tomorrow evening (August 22), CAHN Club will face Buriram United, the reigning Thai League champions, in their opening match of the 2024/25 ASEAN Club Championship.
* CAHN Club will strive for a strong performance.
* For CAHN Club, this is our first time participating in a tournament like this. We will face many strong opponents in the region, and it will be an opportunity for our players to gain experience, improve their skills, and enhance their fighting spirit,’ Coach Polking said at the press conference earlier today (August 21).
In the past, Coach Polking, during his time in the Thai League, faced Buriram United multiple times and encountered many challenges. However, this time, with his new role at CAHN Club, which includes a strong squad of Vietnamese internationals and quality foreign players, he is confident about achieving a good result. He stated that he is satisfied with the current squad and wants to express his gratitude to the club’s management for this, acknowledging the quality additions to the team.
Coach Polking expressed that past challenges against Buriram United are no longer significant. He emphasized that, despite the historical difficulties, he now manages a team of high quality. Buriram United, known for their rich tradition, remains a formidable opponent, but Polking is confident in his squad’s ability to deliver strong performances.
He also shared his excitement about reuniting with familiar players from Thailand after a year of working there. However, he highlighted that his team includes standout players like Quang Hải, Văn Thanh, Việt Anh, and Văn Đức, who have faced Buriram United many times at the national level. Polking noted that Buriram United also boasts talented foreign players.
He assured that CAHN Club will put in their utmost effort to achieve a positive start in the tournament. Addressing the pressures of his role, Polking acknowledged that managing a high-quality team involves intense competition. He stated that his responsibility is to maintain balance within the team, regardless of whether it features many star players or not.
Sharing the same confidence as Coach Polking, team captain Quang Hải remarked, “CAHN Club has been preparing throughout the past month for the match against Buriram United. We hope the entire team will achieve a good result to give back to our fans.
After watching footage and studying Buriram United, we held a meeting to analyze them. We recognize that they are a strong opponent and we respect them. However, with thorough preparation and the advantage of playing at home, CAHN Club will strive for a strong performance.”
Sasalak Haiprakhon expressed admiration for both Quang Hải and Coach Polking, acknowledging their skills and contributions.
On the side of Buriram United, Coach Osmar Loss demonstrated a strong determination to secure a victory despite the challenge of playing away. He explained that this is Buriram United’s debut in the tournament and assured that the team has prepared meticulously. Their goal is to achieve the best possible result.
Coach Loss also addressed the impact of missing Theerathon Bunmathan, noting that his absence is a significant setback for the team. However, he expressed confidence in their ability to find adequate replacements to compensate for the void left by the player.
Last weekend, Buriram United was consistently trailing in their match against Bangkok United. Throughout the game, the team made every effort to chase and respond as quickly as possible. Therefore, Coach Osmar Loss believes that fitness is not a major concern; rather, the key factor will be the players’ mentality in striving for the best possible outcome for the team.
Meanwhile, player Sasalak Haiprakhon praised both Quang Hải and Coach Polking, recognizing their impressive abilities and contributions.
Sasalak Haiprakhon reflected on Buriram United’s solid start to the season, noting that it has been beneficial as they prepare for their upcoming match against CAHN Club. He expressed that working with Coach Polking has been a positive experience and mentioned that they have had discussions where the coach expressed hope for continued strong performances from him.
Haiprakhon also spoke highly of Quang Hải, acknowledging the threat posed by his exceptional left foot. He noted that Quang Hải has been a challenging opponent for the Thai national team, highlighting his significant impact on the field.

This group also features Borneo Samarinda (Indonesia), Lion City Sailors FC (Singapore), Kaya FC Iloilo (Philippines), and Kuala Lumpur City (Malaysia).
