Matchday 25 of the LPBank V.League 1-2024/25: Thep Xanh Nam Dinh successfully defends their championship title
The title race of the LPBank V.League 1-2024/25 was settled in Round 25, as reigning champions Thep Xanh Nam Dinh successfully defended their crown. However, the battle for third place and the 1.5 relegation spots remains undecided and will be determined in the final round on June 22, 2025.
Playing away at Tam Ky Stadium against Quang Nam, Thep Xanh Nam Dinh only needed a draw to secure the title with one round to spare — but they went one better. Goals from Ly Cong Hoang Anh and Lam Ti Phong, one in each half, helped the team from Nam Dinh wrap up the title race on their own terms.
With 54 points after 25 rounds, Thep Xanh Nam Dinh successfully defended their championship, especially as second-placed Hanoi FC suffered a 1-2 defeat to The Cong Viettel in the Capital Derby at home at Hang Day Stadium.
With just one round remaining in the LPBank V.League 1-2024/25 season, the eight-point gap between Thep Xanh Nam Dinh and Hanoi FC is now unbridgeable. Their final match against Hong Linh Ha Tinh at home at Thien Truong Stadium on June 22 will mark the official coronation of the reigning champions.
This result is well deserved. Throughout this demanding season, Thep Xanh Nam Dinh have demonstrated consistent performance and squad depth — even without their top striker, Nguyen Xuan Son, who missed most of the campaign due to an injury sustained at the 2024 ASEAN Cup.
While the title race of the LPBank V.League 1-2024/25 officially concluded in Round 25, the battle for third place remains highly intense, as both Hanoi-based teams, The Cong Viettel and Cong An Ha Noi, secured all three points in this round.
At present, Cong An Ha Noi sits in third place with just a one-point lead over fourth-placed The Cong Viettel. In the upcoming final round (Round 26), both teams will play at home — Cong An Ha Noi will face Hai Phong, while The Cong Viettel will take on Ho Chi Minh City FC.
Cong An Ha Noi holds the advantage in the race for third place thanks to their control over their own destiny. However, their challenge appears tougher, as Hai Phong is a more formidable opponent compared to The Cong Viettel’s opponent, Ho Chi Minh City FC — a team already relegated and offering less resistance. The Cong Viettel, as the chasing team, will need more than just a win and must also rely on other results to climb into third.
A similarly tight race is unfolding at the bottom of the table. Quy Nhon Binh Dinh fell behind after a 0-1 away defeat to Ho Chi Minh City FC, while both SHB Da Nang and SLNA picked up vital points to move ahead. After 25 rounds, Quy Nhon Binh Dinh sits at the bottom with 21 points, just one point behind SHB Da Nang.
Both Binh Dinh and SHB Da Nang will have the home advantage in the final round of the season. However, Binh Dinh faces a much tougher challenge against title runner-up Hanoi FC, while SHB Da Nang takes on SLNA in a more balanced matchup.
That said, nothing is certain yet — both the race for third place and the relegation battle remain wide open. Only when Round 26 concludes on June 22 will the final outcomes of the LPBank V.League 1-2024/25 be known.
