Vietnam U15 women’s team lose to NSW Sky U15 in friendly match in Australia

On the morning of April 12, during their participation in an invitational tournament in Australia, the Vietnam U15 women’s team played a friendly match against NSW (New South Wales) Sky U15. Despite creating several chances, coach Nguyen Mai Lan’s players were unable to convert them and had to settle for a 0–4 defeat.

From the opening minutes, the opponents showed initiative in their play. In the 3rd minute, NSW Sky U15 launched a dangerous attack down the flank, with a diagonal shot hitting the post before one of their players quickly followed up from close range to open the scoring at 1–0.

In the remainder of the first half, both teams created several notable chances but were unable to convert them into goals. In the 29th minute, Vietnam U15 women’s team had a clear opportunity when Ma Ngoc Anh broke down the left flank, drove into the box, and squared the ball to Ngoc Lan. However, the number 4’s shot went over the bar. The first half ended with a 1–0 advantage for the opponents.

In the second half, NSW Sky U15 continued to increase the pressure. In the 40th minute, from a direct free kick on the right flank, the opponents combined effectively with a one-touch finish to make it 2–0. Just five minutes later, in the 45th minute, they capitalized on an interception in midfield, launched a quick counterattack, and extended the lead to 3–0.

In the 54th minute, the opponents continued to exploit the flanks effectively, delivering the ball into the box. Although a Vietnam U15 defender initially cleared it, the opposition quickly capitalized on the second ball to score and seal a 4–0 victory.

Despite the unfavorable result, the match provided a valuable opportunity for the Vietnam U15 women’s team to gain experience and further improve their technical and tactical qualities during their international preparation.

Based on the results of the first three matches, Vietnam U15 women’s team are currently ranked third in the standings and will face the second-placed team, Queensland U15 women’s team. The match is scheduled to take place this afternoon (April 12).
