VFF Leaders attend FIFA Executive Football Summit and FIFA World Cup 2026 Opening Ceremony
From 10 to 17 June 2026, a delegation of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), comprising Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan – FIFA Competitions Committee Member and VFF President, and Mr. Nguyen Van Phu – FIFA Medical Committee Member and VFF General Secretary, will attend the FIFA Executive Football Summit 2026 and the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2026. The event provides an important opportunity for leaders of FIFA Member Associations to discuss strategic directions for the development of world football, while also strengthening international cooperation to support the growth and integration of the sport.

The official programme began on the evening of 10 June in Mexico City with a welcome reception held at Castillo de Chapultepec, one of Mexico’s most iconic historical landmarks. The VFF delegation will also attend the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2026 in Mexico City, scheduled for 13:00 on 11 June (02:00 on 12 June Vietnam time). This edition marks the first FIFA World Cup in history to feature 48 national teams, representing a new milestone in the development of the world’s premier football tournament.
The delegation will then attend the match between Asian representatives Saudi Arabia and Uruguay in Miami on the evening of 15 June.
Following the activities in Mexico, the programme will continue in Miami, United States, where the FIFA Executive Football Summit 2026 will take place. The plenary session on 14 June will focus on strategic reports, development directions and FIFA’s priorities for the new cycle.
The in-depth discussion sessions on 15 June are expected to be the highlight of the summit, centring on innovation, sustainable development and enhanced football governance. Key topics include the implementation of major development programmes such as FIFA Forward, FIFA Arena and FIFA Football for Schools; the Boots for All campaign, which provides football equipment support to member associations; lessons learned from the FIFA U-15 Festival in youth development; and studies and discussions on the United States sports model aimed at identifying management and operational solutions aligned with the modern development trends of world football.

In addition to the official sessions, FIFA has arranged a range of practical activities to provide delegates with first-hand insights into the organisation and operation of a global sporting event. The programme includes visits to the FIFA Museum, the Tournament Operations Center and Inter Miami Stadium on either 13 June or 16 June.
On the sidelines of this globally significant event, VFF leaders will also hold meetings and discussions with FIFA officials, representatives of member associations and various international football organisations. These engagements aim to strengthen cooperation, expand opportunities for technical exchange and support the continued development and international integration of Vietnamese football.
With a comprehensive agenda covering a wide range of strategic topics, the FIFA Executive Football Summit 2026 is expected to help shape the future direction of world football in the years ahead, with a strong focus on innovation, sustainable development and enhancing the global value of the beautiful game.
