VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan attends the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final

At the invitation of FIFA President Gianni Infantino, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan travelled to the United States to attend the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, as well as the closing ceremony and trophy presentation held at MetLife Stadium. The showpiece event featured a highly anticipated clash between two of the world’s leading national teams, Argentina and Spain.

As part of the event, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan attended a reception hosted for the presidents and representatives of FIFA’s Member Associations. In addition to hearing remarks from FIFA President Gianni Infantino, the gathering provided an opportunity for football administrators from around the world to exchange views and discuss the future development of football in their respective countries.

Earlier in the tournament, the VFF President was also in attendance at the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Mexico. His presence at both the opening match and the final of football’s biggest global event was not only a diplomatic engagement but also reflected the growing stature and recognition of Vietnamese football within the international football community.

VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan currently holds several key positions within international football governance. He serves as a member of the FIFA National Teams Competitions Committee, a Member of the AFC Executive Committee, Chairman of both the AFC and AFF Competitions Committees, and a member of the AFC Asian Cup Organising Committee for the 2023–2027 term.

Most recently, Tran Quoc Tuan was appointed by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) as Chairman of the Men’s Football Competition Committee for the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, reflecting the AFC’s confidence in his expertise and contributions to the development and administration of football in Asia.
