Former Asian champions Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma started their 2007 AFC Champions League campaign with a 4-1 win over Dong Lam Long An of Vietnam that was as hard-fought as any in their history in the continental competition.

In the midst of a swirling blizzard, star striker Mota scored in each half for Seongnam with Kim Dong-hyun and Adrian Neaga getting on the scoresheet in the second period before the visitors grabbed a late consolation.

If the freezing temperatures and driving snow were not enough for the Vietnamese champions to deal with, Seongnam coach Kim Hak-bom fielded a strong team.

Despite that, Dong Tam”s Kabanga Tshamala managed the first shot firing wide in the fourth minute – but that was as good as it got for the visitors as Seongnam took the lead five minutes later.
