AFC President sends congratulatory letter to VFF President and Vietnam U17 national team
On May 16, Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa – President of the Asian Football Confederation and FIFA Senior Vice President – sent a congratulatory letter to Vietnam Football Federation President Tran Quoc Tuan following the outstanding achievement of the Vietnam U17 national team at the AFC U17 Asian Cup 2026.
In his letter, the AFC President expressed: “It gives me great pleasure to extend to Your Excellency and the Vietnam Football Federation my heartfelt congratulations on your team’s outstanding performance at the AFC U17 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2026, culminating in qualification for the FIFA U17 World Cup Qatar 2026.”
AFC President Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa emphasized: “The passion and dedication displayed by the team throughout the tournament were truly commendable. I wish Vietnam U17 all the very best in their preparations and am confident that they will represent Asia with pride on the world stage.”
Through Tran Quoc Tuan, the AFC President also conveyed his congratulations to all players and coaching staff for this remarkable achievement. He affirmed the Asian Football Confederation’s high appreciation for the development of youth football in Vietnam.
This marks the first time the Vietnam U17 national team has qualified for the FIFA U17 World Cup, creating a new historic milestone for Vietnamese football.
