Coach Hoang Van Phuc to take charge of the Vietnam women’s national team from May 1, 2026
On the morning of April 17, 2026, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) held a contract signing ceremony and officially announced the appointment of the head coach of the Vietnam women’s national team.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Tran Anh Tu – Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF); Mr. Nguyen Xuan Vu – Vice President of VFF; Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hoi – Standing Member of the VFF Executive Committee; Mr. Do Van Nhat – Executive Committee Member and Head of the Women’s Football Department of VFF; Mr. Tran Huy Duc – Executive Committee Member and Deputy Head of the Women’s Football Department; Mr. Tran Anh Minh – Executive Committee Member; Mr. Nguyen Sy Hien – Chairman of the National Coaches Council; Mr. Mai Duc Chung – Vice Chairman of the National Coaches Council and Head Coach of the Vietnam women’s national team; and Mr. Hoang Van Phuc – who will take over as Head Coach of the Vietnam women’s national team from May 1, 2026.
After consulting with the National Coaches Council and relevant professional departments, and based on specific objectives and tasks, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and coach Hoang Van Phuc held discussions on the goals and development plan for the Vietnam women’s national team. Both sides reached an agreement for Mr. Hoang Van Phuc to take on the role of head coach from May 1, 2026 until the conclusion of the 34th SEA Games.
The key task for newly appointed head coach Hoang Van Phuc is to focus on squad building and thoroughly prepare the Vietnam women’s national team for the 2026 Asian Games (ASIAD 20), scheduled to take place in Japan from September 19 to October 4, 2026, followed by the 34th SEA Games in Malaysia.
The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) expresses its confidence that, with his experience and deep understanding of Vietnamese football, head coach Hoang Van Phuc, together with the coaching staff and players, will build on past achievements and strive to accomplish the set objectives, thereby continuing to affirm the position of Vietnam women’s football at both regional and continental levels.
Speaking at the ceremony, head coach Hoang Van Phuc expressed his honor at being entrusted by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) with the role. He affirmed his determination, together with the coaching staff, to build a united team, maximize the players’ potential, and aim for effective performances in upcoming competitions.
He also expressed his hope to continue receiving support and encouragement from fans, as well as close cooperation from media agencies, thereby creating additional motivation for the team to achieve positive results and contribute to the overall development of Vietnamese football.
