Viet Nam will meet Malaysia in the group B opener of the Southeast Asian Games in Thailand on December 1, according to Viet Nam Football Federation.

Last week, Viet Nam drew group B against Malaysia, Laos and Singapore, while Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar and Cambodia compete in group A in a round robin formulation, with the top two in each group fighting it out in the semi-finals.

Viet Nam”s women”s team, who won the International Women”s Coal-Minerals Football Tournament Cup in Viet Nam after beating Shandong team 4-3 in the final last week, will clash with the Philippines on December 5 in a group A match before playing Laos on December 8. Hosts Thailand will play in Group B with Myanmar and Malaysia.

The women”s team have clinched the SEA Games” gold three consecutive games, while the men fail to surmount the victory podium.
