The meeting of AFF Competitions Committee sponsored by AFF Vice President and AFF General Secretary was organised in Kuala Lumpur on 30th April 2010. The meeting’s participants included General secretaries of Indonesia and Vietnam (Dr Tran Quoc Tuan), Presidents of Laos, Philippines and WSG’s representative.

 

 

A good news for Vietnam Football, Dr Tran Quoc Tuan – VFF General secretary has worked with FIFA Development Office in Kuala Lumpur and was informed that FIFA delegation will visit Vietnam for the implementation of FIFA Goal III Project. Accordingly, Vietnam will be supported with lighting system for artificial turf, fitness room and 1 Hyundai bus to use for national football teams

The major content of the meeting is to discuss about the schedule of AFF U19, U16 competitions and very important competition: AFF Cup.

 

 

1/ AFF Cup 2010: AFF Competitions Committee confirmed that the Qualifiers would be organised in Laosfrom 20th to 31st October 2010; Finals would be hosted by Vietnam and Indonesia from 1st to 8th December 2010, Knock-out stage from 15th to 29th December 2010.

 

According to the assessment of AFF, the preparation of the two member associations for the Finals of AFF Cup, especially Vietnam received good comments from AFF. AFF officially confirmed the Draw ceremony of AFF Cup 2010 – Finals to be organised on 27th July 2010 inHanoi. 
 

 

 

The Drawing Format will be seeding system, consider results of 2 latest times of  participation in AFF Cup (2007, 2008). Therefore, Vietnam, Thailand and Singapore are equal with 20 points,Indonesia 14 points, the following teams are Malaysia, Myanmar and 2 qualified teams of the Qualifiers.

2/ The AFF U19 tournament will be organised in Vietnam with the participation of 4 teams:Thailand, Vietnam (2 qualified teams of South East Asia for AFC U19 Championship 2010) – Finals) and 2 invited teams Australia and Korea (also 2 qualified teams for Finals of AFC U19 Championship 2010 in China)

 

Match schedule:

24/7: Australia – Korea; Vietnam – Thailand

26/7: Thailand – Australia; Korea – Vietnam

28/7: Korea – Thailand; Vietnam – Australia

30/7: Third placing match, Final

 

3/ The AFF U16 tournament will be organised in Indonesia from 20th to 26th September 2010 with the participation of 3 teams who qualified for Finals of AFC U16 Championship 2010:Indonesia, Vietnam, Timor Leste and China.

 

Match schedule:

20/9: China – Vietnam; Indonesia – Timor Leste

22/9: Timor Leste – China; Vietnam – Indonesia

24/9: Vietnam – Timor Leste; Indonesia – China

26/9: Third placing match; Final

 

In the meeting, AFF Competitions Department was reported on the organisation of AFF Futsal Championship 2010 in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam and agreed that Vietnam has successfully organised the event.

 

Basing to previous schedule, AFF Council will have a regular meeting in Kuala Lumpur on 22nd May with the participation of official members.

 

* According to information from Mr Nugraha Besoes – General Secretary of Indonesia FA, Mr A. Riedl is going to Jakarta to negotiate and sign contract as head coach of Indonesia team participating in AFF Cup 2010.
