Without time to prepare and some key players, Vietnam has made an early exit from the Southeast Asian U-17 Football Championship. 

In Thailand yesterday, the Vietnamese boys lost 3-1 to Malaysia in a match to decide the final semifinal slot.

Starting the game needing a victory to qualify, they eagerly pushed forward in search of goals. The Malaysians made them pay dearly getting three goals by the 70th minute. The Vietnamese managed a consolation goal in the final minutes.

Vietnam had lost 4-1 to Laos in the opening match August 27. Laos became the first team to qualify for the semis from group B.

Vietnam managed a solitary point from a draw with Cambodia.
