Draw for the Vietnam National Second Division 2026 Fixtures: 14 Teams Compete for 3 Promotion Spots
On the morning of March 10, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Football Federation, the draw for the match schedule of the Vietnam National Second Division 2026 took place. The 2026 season continues to feature 14 teams competing for three promotion spots to the Vietnam National First Division for the 2026/27 season.
Attending the ceremony, representing the Vietnam Football Federation were Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hoi – Standing Member of the VFF Executive Committee; Mr. Tran Van Quynh – Member of the VFF Executive Committee; Mr. Nguyen Van Phu – VFF General Secretary and Head of the Organizing Committee; Mr. Nguyen Minh Chau – VFF Deputy General Secretary and Standing Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee; along with members of the VFF Secretariat, representatives of VFF departments and numerous representatives from media agencies.
Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Vietnam Football Federation and the Organizing Committee, Mr. Nguyen Van Phu emphasized the important role of the Vietnam National Second Division in Vietnam’s football competition system. The tournament not only serves as a platform for teams across the country to compete for promotion to the professional level, but also contributes to maintaining the stable development of the national competition system, while creating opportunities for localities and clubs to identify and develop players for higher levels of Vietnamese football.
The 2026 season features 14 participating teams, including nine teams continuing from the 2025 Vietnam National Second Division season: Dak Lak FC, Mekong Can Tho FC (transferred from Hoai Duc FC), Lam Dong FC, Quang Ngai FC (formerly Kon Tum FC), PVF FC, Tay Ninh FC, Tre Ha Noi FC, Tre SHB Da Nang FC and Vinh Long FC; Hue FC, which was relegated from the Vietnam National First Division 2024–25; along with four teams promoted from the Vietnam National Third Division 2025: Tre Phu Dong FC, Tre Cong An Ha Noi FC, Ha Tinh Sports Training and Competition Center FC and Truong Giang Gia Dinh FC.
The 14 teams are divided into two groups of seven based on geographical regions and registered home venues. Group A includes Tre Cong An Ha Noi FC, Tre Ha Noi FC, Tre Phu Dong FC, PVF FC, Ha Tinh Sports Training and Competition Center FC, Hue FC and Tre SHB Da Nang FC. Group B consists of Mekong Can Tho FC, Vinh Long FC, Truong Giang Gia Dinh FC, Tay Ninh FC, Quang Ngai FC, Dak Lak FC and Lam Dong FC.
According to the competition format, teams will play a double round-robin (home and away) in the qualifying stage to determine rankings within each group. The top two teams from each group will advance to the final stage. In the finals, the four teams will compete in knockout matches to determine the three teams that will be promoted to the Vietnam National First Division 2026–27.
According to the plan, the qualifying stage of the Vietnam National Second Division 2026 will take place from March 24 to June 7, 2026, with the first leg scheduled from March 24 to April 25 and the return leg from May 6 to June 7. The final stage is expected to be held from June 13 to June 16, 2026.
With thorough preparations from the participating teams and well-organized arrangements by the organizers, the Vietnam National Second Division 2026 is expected to be exciting and competitive, contributing to improving the quality of Vietnam’s national football competition system while continuing to discover new talents for Vietnamese football.
Selected matches of the tournament will be broadcast live on the media platforms of the Vietnam Football Federation.
