Exciting Activities at the 2025 AFC Grassroots Football Day in Huế
The 2025 AFC Grassroots Football Day took place on the afternoon of May 17 at Tu Do Stadium in Hue City. The event aimed to promote sustainable development through gender equality, creating a playground where all children — regardless of gender or background — can participate.
The event was organized by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) in coordination with the Department of Culture and Sports, the Hue City Football Association, and the Hue Football Team. Attending the event were Mr. Nguyễn Quốc Hội, Standing Member of the VFF; Mr. Huỳnh Quốc Việt, General Secretary of the Hue City Football Federation; and Mr. Lưu Quang Điện Biên, Director of Grassroots Football, Coaching Education, and MAs Affiliate of the VFF.
At the festival, under the guidance of former national women’s team player Đỗ Thị Ngọc Châm – Ambassador for Grassroots Football – 150 children from SOS Children’s Village Hue, the Immanuel Hue Community Football Club, female students from Hue University, and others enjoyed an exciting afternoon filled with fun football activities. These included group tag games, timed dribbling through cones, crossbar and post shooting challenges, cone-running and heading the ball into the goal, and a juggling contest with former player Ngọc Châm.
The 2025 AFC Grassroots Football Day aimed to promote grassroots football within the community; raise awareness of children’s rights and the importance of a safe, inclusive, and equitable sporting environment; and foster sustainable development through gender equality. The event created a fair and inclusive playground where all children — regardless of gender or background — could participate and enjoy the game.
Not only did the children get to immerse themselves in the game and showcase their skills in a sport they love, but more importantly, the event served as a platform to spread passion and dreams — helping break down barriers and overcome disadvantages. It offered valuable life lessons in discipline, teamwork, and independence, empowering the children with experiences that will benefit them in the future.
