Opening of the National Championship 2024 Division 2: Attractive promotion race
On the afternoon of March 28, the 2024 National Championship 2024 Division 2 officially kicked off with the first matches in Groups A and B. The opening ceremony of the tournament took place excitingly at the stadium, promising an exciting race for 2 tickets to compete in the 2024/25 V.League 2.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Minh Chau – VFF’s Deputy General Secretary, Head of the Organizing Committee said that with VFF’s efforts in organizing and close coordination of clubs participating in the tournament, VFF believes that this year’s competition, with a two-round-robin format at home and away to determine 2 spots to compete in the 2024/2025 V.League 2, will continue to receive attention and cheering from a large audience of fans, as well as demonstrating the professional progress of the matches, thereby creating a competitive environment, contributing to the overall development of Vietnamese football.
This year’s Division 2 brings together the participation of 14 clubs and are divided into 2 groups, in which Group A includes Hanoi Youth, PVF, Bac Ninh (transferred from Gia Dinh Club), SHB Da Nang Youth, Tay Nguyen Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Dak Lak; Group B includes teams An Giang, Dinh Huong Phu Nhuan, Van Hien University (transferred from Quang Nam Youth), Lam Dong, Tien Giang, Ho Chi Minh City Youth and Vinh Long.
Teams will compete in a 2-round-robin to calculate ranking points. The two best teams in each group will qualify to the final round according to the following format: Group A winner meets Group B runner-up, Group B winner meets Group A runner-up. The two winning teams will win the right to participate in the 2024/25 V.League 2.
After the opening ceremony, the opening matches of the season took place. The results promise that the race will be very unpredictable when only 2 of the 6 home teams, Dak Lak and An Giang, enjoy the joy of victory. The remaining home teams were all divided points by the away team, or lost.
The second match will take place on April 2, in which the attraction will focus on PVF Stadium, where the home team will host Bac Ninh FC – a team with a very strong investment in force as well as the support of former national team head coach Park Hang-seo as Senior Club Advisor.
