The Vietnamese futsal team rose 6 places on the FIFA rankings, entering the Top 20 in the world.
The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) recently announced the latest rankings for men’s and women’s futsal. Accordingly, the Vietnamese men’s futsal team has risen 6 places to rank 20th in the world. This is the highest position in the history of Vietnamese men’s futsal since FIFA officially published the futsal rankings.

This impressive rise comes from the undefeated performance of Coach Diego Giustozzi’s team during the 2026 Asian Futsal Qualification Round held in September. With the current position, the Vietnamese futsal team also ranks 4th in Asia, only behind Iran (5th in the world), Thailand (11th), and Japan (13th).
The achievement of entering the top 20 in the world for the first time is considered a significant milestone, providing great spiritual motivation for the Vietnamese futsal team ahead of their opening match at SEA Games 33 against Malaysia on December 16. Notably, Vietnam is one of only two teams to enter the top 20 in this update, alongside Poland – which rose 3 places to rank 19.
In the Top 10 globally, Brazil continues to solidify its number one position, widening the gap with Portugal and Spain. The top seven teams remain unchanged, while a notable change in the top 10 is Ukraine and Kazakhstan swapping places.
According to FIFA statistics, a total of 230 international men’s futsal matches have been played since the last ranking, including the Asian Futsal Qualification 2026 and European futsal tournaments. Besides Vietnam, some other teams that have made significant jumps in ranking include South Korea, Montenegro, Mozambique, Denmark, and Malaysia.
In women’s futsal, the Vietnamese women’s team maintains their position at 11th in the world and 5th in Asia. During the period between the two rankings, Coach Nguyễn Đình Hoàng’s team did not play any international matches that count for points.
This historic ranking on the FIFA table is a fitting recognition of the persistent efforts, proper development orientation, and thorough preparation of Vietnamese futsal over the years. It also affirms the increasingly prominent position of Vietnamese futsal on the global futsal map.
