FIFA appreciates the goal of Vietnam futsal team in Round of 16
Last night Sep 22, Vietnam Futsal team had the last game at FIFA Futsal World Cup 2021. Even lost 2-3 over the runner-up of the world, Vietnam futsal team had an outstanding performance impressed FIFA and AFC.
In the Matchday 10 review, FIFA wrote: “Vietnam lost 7-0 to Russia in the Round of 16 at Colombia 2016, many predicted a similar thrashing and, sure enough, RFU raced into a 2-0 lead. But not only was the Vietnamese response immediate, it was historic. Ho Van Y released an inch-perfect throw upfield, the ball was knocked across goal and Nguyen Dac Huy headed it home en route to a pride-instilling 3-2 defeat”.
“It was an amazing goal, absolutely fantastic,” said Miguel Rodrigo of the FIFA Technical Study Group. “A header assisting a header is something you barely ever see.”
AFC also remarked the journey of Vietnam team as a valiant campaign. “Vietnam, vying to reach the quarter-finals for the first time, came close to finding the net with efforts from Gia Hung Nhan and Dac Huy but instead, RFU extended their lead through Chishkala’s strike in the 18th minute. Vietnam, however, immediately responded through Dac Huy’s effort to reduce the deficit with goalkeeper Ho Van Y playing his part in keeping the Southeast Asian side in the game for the remainder of the half”.
The Russian side’s constant pressure paid off when Chishkala struck their third goal with 10 minutes left in the game.
But “Vietnam refused to give up, with Pham Duc Hoa pulling one back in the 39th minute” AFC said.
