Head coach Park Hang-seo: “Even the situation of the team is not good, we will still do our best”
At the press conference before the match against Oman in the FIFA World Cup 2022 Asian 3rd Qualifier, head coach Park Hang-seo expressed concern about the situation of the Vietnamese team when there were many cases of injuries as well as the number of Covid-19 cases. However, he affirmed that the team will do their best to not let the fans down.
Head coach Park Hang-seo said: “Currently, the situation of the Vietnamese team is not good, not only because of injuries but also Covid-19. Quite a few players are isolated, which affects the strength of the team. After losing 7 matches, Vietnam Team won the first match against China. For the match against Oman, the last match at home ground, the team’s overall situation is not good. But we will do our best”.
Facing difficulties in terms of force, head coach Park Hang-seo had to convene additional personnel for the Vietnamese team, including young players from U23 Vietnam. When asked about the opportunity to play for these players, head coach Park Hang-seo said: “Currently we have 8 players isolated because of Covid-19, we have to choose young players to replace them. Whether U23 players can play or not, I can hardly reveal. This afternoon, we will practice and review the situation before deciding the formation”.
Evaluating the rematch against Oman tomorrow, head coach Park Hang-seo said: “The match against Oman, the opponent ranked FIFA higher than us. But they are not too strong a opponent for Vietnam to worry about. We have nothing to fear. I am only worried about the injury situation of key players such as Van Lam, Van Duc, Dinh Trong… Besides, we have 8 players positive with Covid-19.”
“The absence of key players puts the team under a lot of pressure. I don’t know if the replacement can fill the void left by the main player. I hope they do well. I also expect them to be good to create healthy competition. I don’t know how they play, because they are young players with little experience.
As for the pressure issue, I already answered it earlier. I’ve lived with it all along, no problem, it’s a profession. It’s just that we do it so that the fans don’t disappoint. Again, my biggest concern is the team’s injury and Covid-19 situation.”
Goalkeeper Tran Nguyen Manh:
“Tomorrow’s match against Oman is the last match at home of Vietnam Team in the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers. They are a strong opponent, but the whole team is carefully prepared by the coaching assistants. We aim to play with determination and bring the best results for Vietnamese fans.”
“Learning from the first leg against Oman, we have to try to fix our mistakes and what we haven’t done yet. This match we are playing at home and are preparing well. Everyone is trying to get the best results.”
The match between Vietnam Team and Oman Team will take place at 19:00 tomorrow (March 24) at My Dinh National Stadium. The players of the Vietnamese national team will play in the traditional red jersey
