The draw for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2008 will be held in Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City on April 18, 2008.

Defending champions China and runners-up Australia have been seeded one and two respectively and would headline two groups of four teams each, while third-seeds DPR Korea and Japan, who are seeded fourth, will also be positioned separately. 

Eight teams, including qualifiers Chinese Taipei, Korea Republic, Thailand and Vietnam, will vie for the top honours in the May 28-June 8 competition. 

The top two teams from each group will make it to the last four stage. 

China overcame Australia on penalties 4-2 to clinch the title in the last edition of the competition in 2006 in Adelaide. 

Ho Chi Minh City will host the 2008 AFC Women’s Asian Cup football finals from May 28 to June 8.

TEAMS AND SEEDINGS: 1. China, 2. Australia, 3. DPR Korea, 4. Japan (all seeded), 5. Chinese Taipei, 6. Korea Republic, 7. Thailand, 8. Vietnam (all qualifiers).
