Men’s national team will play at the home stadium in FIFA World Cup 2022 3rd Asian Qualifier

Based on the report and suggest of VFF, on the afternoon of Jul 14, under the host of Vice Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam – Head of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism had a meeting with Hanoi People’s Committee and relevant Ministries and Agencies. With the arrangement to both ensuring the organisation of cultural and sports events to meet the interest of fans while ensuring safety in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting unanimously agreed with the plan to host the matches of Men’s national team in the FIFA World Cup 2022 3rd Asian Qualifier and assigned Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to work with VFF to complete the detail of the organisation following the regulation and guidance of FIFA, AFC, and Vietnam Government, then propose to Government.

Playing at home continues to improve the prestige of Vietnam in pandemic control and prevention through the hosting of an official international event, especially is an advantage for the team in the preparation, forward to a higher target in the upcoming period.

To prepare for the team joining in the FIFA World Cup 2022 3rd Asian Qualifier, VFF early set the plan and solutions for the organisation of the matches to report to the Ministry, then propose and seek to the Government.

One of the most important issues in organisation of the matches is the isolation mechanism for the participant in the event. Based on the study and evaluation from the experience of FIFA, AFC during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in the FIFA World Cup 2022 2nd Asian Qualifier in Qatar, VFF proposed the “Bubble principle” under the control of medical agencies. This solution is applied and having good results in some international events.
