Song Lam Nghe An football team, the owner of Cong Vinh, Vietnam”s number-one striker, say they would transfer him to any club willing to pay $1 million.

Cong Vinh is coveted by many Vietnamese football teams. The new season is approaching and several clubs have expressed their intention to buy his contract. Tired of refusing them, a manager of Song Lam Nghe An stated: SUnless you show up with $1 million, we don”t want to discuss any transfer or trade.⬝

As the deadline for transferring players approaches, January 3, 2008, it is impossible for any club to come up with enough cash in time.

However, the contract between Cong Vinh and Song Lam Nghe An club is only valid for one more year. Vinh himself is anxious for his freedom next year, where he can accept other, possibly more lucrative, opportunities. A fierce race among football clubs for the contract is expected. Rumors say Cong Vinh has been offered a four-year contract from a more prominent club, that includes a transfer fee of VND5 billion ($312,000) and a monthly salary of VND50 million ($3,100).

Recently, half-back Huu Thang said goodbye to Binh Duong to play for Vinakansai Ninh Binh for three years, accepting a record contract that includes a VND1.5 billion transfer fee for the team and a VND1.5 billion bonus for Thang.

Duong Hong Son, goal-keeper of the national football squad, has also left Song Lam Nghe An to play for T&T Hanoi under a VND1.7 billion contract.
