Speaking at the opening ceremony, journalist Dang Thi Phuong Thao – Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper, Chairman of the Northern Regional Qualifiers Organizing Committee emphasized that with the desire to contribute to building a generation of young Vietnamese, over the years, Thanh Nien Newspaper has persistently participated in organizing many sports activities and 25 years of experience in organizing the U21 football national championship and international tournaments for youth. Today, a new tournament for students, young people full of wisdom and desire has been organized.”

This will be a tournament to create more interesting and useful playgrounds for students of universities – colleges – academies, helping young people to practice physically, exchange and learn, and hone their competition knowledge to promote the further development of school sports activities. At the same time, the tournament is also an opportunity through which VFF discovers more talents to add to the national youth teams, aiming to establish a Vietnamese student football team to compete internationally in the future”, journalist Dang Thi Phuong Thao affirmed.

Right after the exciting opening ceremony, the race started with an attractive competition between the host Thuy Loi University and the National Economics University. As a result, the victory belonged to Thuy Loi University with Tran Bao Trung’s only goal in the 11th minute.
Previously, in the opening match of Group A, Vietnam Maritime University and Dai Nam University drew with the score 0-0.
The Northern region has 6 teams participating in the qualifying round, divided into 2 groups, including: Group A (Thuy Loi University, National Economics University, Academy of Journalism and Communication) and Group B (Vietnam Maritime University, Dai Nam University, Hanoi University of Physical Education and Sports). The matches will take place from February 20 to 27 at the stadium of the Thuy Loi University.
According to the competition format in the Northern region, in addition to the two top teams in each group entering the final round, the second team of Group A and the second team of Group B will play a play-off match to find a team to advance.
The total prize of the Vietnam Student Football Tournament – Café de Mang Den Cup I-2023 is more than 700 million VND. In which, the winning team is awarded 300 million VND, the second place is 150 million VND, the third place is 80 million VND, the fair-play prize is 40 million VND; individual awards such as best player, top scorer, best goalkeeper, best referee 10-15 million VND/prize; The best player and first scorer in each match is 1 million VND / match in the group stage, 2 million VND in the semi-finals, 3 million VND in the final. In addition, the most impressive university fan association will receive a prize of 100 million VND.
