The Vietnam national team showed great enthusiasm as they began training in preparation for the two upcoming matches against Nepal
On the afternoon of October 5, the Vietnam national team held their first training session in Thu Dau Mot City (Ho Chi Minh City), preparing for the two matches against Nepal in the final qualification round of the AFC Asian Cup 2027. The training session under head coach Kim Sang-sik took place in a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere.
As most of the players had just competed in Round 6 of the 2025/26 V.League, head coach Kim Sang-sik conducted a light training session to help them relax their muscles and recover after recent matches. Following the warm-up, the players practiced basic tactical drills, with a particular focus on helping the eight young U23 players adapt to the team’s overall playing style. The Korean coach expressed satisfaction with how quickly the newcomers have integrated into the squad.
Before the training session, goalkeeper Đặng Văn Lâm shared his thoughts with the media about returning to the national team after nearly a year’s absence. He said: “After quite a long time, I’m finally back with the national team, but it still feels very familiar — as if it were just yesterday. Seeing my old teammates again makes me really happy. Although it’s been almost a year since I last wore the national team jersey, it truly feels like only last week I was still playing for Vietnam. Right now, I’m very determined and will do my best to contribute everything I can.”
The 1993-born goalkeeper also spoke about the atmosphere in the current training camp: “We just gathered yesterday and had our first meal together — I can really feel the joy and excitement within the team. There are quite a few young players this time, and from now on, we’ll all focus together on working toward the team’s common goals.”
Speaking about the upcoming opponent, Văn Lâm said: “At the moment, I don’t have much information about Nepal. However, in the coming days, the coaching staff will provide video analysis and hold tactical meetings. From there, we’ll work together to find the right approach and playing style for the matches.”
When asked about competition for the goalkeeper position, Văn Lâm affirmed: “In every training camp, the head coach always calls up the best goalkeepers in Vietnamese football. We support each other during training and matches. Whether one starts or contributes in another way is entirely up to the head coach’s decision. What matters most is that we all share the same goal — to give our best for the national team.”
According to the schedule, the Vietnam national team will train in Thu Dau Mot until October 8 before playing two matches against Nepal — the first leg at 7:30 p.m. on October 9 at Go Dau Stadium, and the return leg at 7:30 p.m. on October 14 at Thong Nhat Stadium (Ho Chi Minh City).
The organizing committee has announced ticket sales for the two matches, with prices set at 200,000 VND and 400,000 VND. Tickets are sold exclusively online via the OneU app (formerly VinID) in two phases: from September 29 to October 5, and from October 6 to 7, or until sold out. In addition, on-site ticket sales are available at the ticket counters of Go Dau Stadium and Thong Nhat Stadium starting from October 7.
