2010 FIFA World Cup: Vietnam to play UAE

The home leg will kick off on November 9 and the away leg, nine days later.

Vietnam will replay the United Arab Emirates in the first round of Asian qualification for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, according to the draw in Kuala Lumpur.

Accordingly, Vietnam, seeded 25, will play the home match on October 8 and will play the away match 20 days later.

Vietnam and the UAE played at the group stage of the AFC Asian Cup 2007 in Hanoi, in whichVietnam won 2-0 through goals by Huynh Quang Thanh and Le Cong Vinh.

If Vietnam beat the UAE, Vietnam will enter the third qualification round, the draw of which will take place in Durban, South Africa, on November 25, 2007.

The five top seeds, including Australia, the Republic of Korea, Saudi Arabia, Japan and Iran, join the qualification process in the third round.

From the 19 teams that clear this round, the lowest eight based on ranking move on to the second round and the other 11 to round three.

The first round home-and-away knockout round will take place on October 8 and October 28 while the second round is scheduled for November 9 and November 18.
