Mitsustar Haier Hai Phong were renamed Van Hoa-Hai Phong after sponsor Mitsustar cut off financial support because Hai Phong were relegated to First Division last year.
Hai Phong, which finished next-to-bottom in the V-League last season, lost to First Division”s third-finishers Huda Hue in the playoff last August for a berth in the top-flight V-League this season.
The teamhas signed a contract with Nigerian player Daniel Mbock and extended a contract to halfback Nduwimana Abdallaa for the new season.
