VFF organizes a training course on sports medicine knowledge in 2023

On the morning of June 27, at the headquarters of the VFF, the opening ceremony of a training course on sports medicine knowledge in 2023 was held, in order to update information and regulations in medical work, and improve the quality of health management for athletes in general and football players in particular.

Representatives of the VFF attending the ceremony were Mr. Duong Nghiep Khoi – General Secretary; Mr. Nguyen Minh Chau – Deputy Secretary General and Mrs. Nguyen Thanh Ha – Deputy Secretary General. The opening ceremony of the sports medicine training class in 2023 was also attended by Mr. Le Quy Phuong – Chairman of the VFF Medical Committee; Mr. Nguyen Van Phu – Deputy Chairman of VFF Medical Committee; Mr. Truong Hai Tung – Director of Vietnam Youth Football Training Center; Mr. Vu Tu Nam – Specialist Doctor II, Head of Department of Arthroscopic Surgery & Sports Medicine, Vinmec Hospital and 40 trainees who are medical staff of professional clubs, women’s football, futsal.

In the opening speech of the ceremony, Mr. Le Quy Phuong – Chairman of the VFF Medical Committee expressed his belief: “For the role of medical staff at the club/team, we understand that many clubs are still facing difficulties when the coaches have to concurrently be doctors and medical staff of the team. Hopefully, through this class, we will gain more knowledge as well as the important role of the club/team’s medical staff. VFF also hopes that through this training course, clubs/teams will raise awareness of the importance of medicine in sports as well as in football and update information for clubs/teams in health work, sports medicine to improve the quality of athlete health management. All relevant professional issues will be shared directly by experienced members of the Sports Medicine Committee of the VFF and specialist doctors of Vinmec International General Hospital.

In the opening statement, VFF General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi emphasized: “Through the class, VFF hopes that the trainees will accurately assess the important role of medical staff at the clubs; support knowledge about the prevention and treatment of injuries for players; awareness of the position of medical work in football; improve the health and fitness of players and athletes…”.

Doctor Dong Xuan Lam (HAGL Club) on behalf of the trainees attending the class expressed his gratitude to the VFF for creating conditions for the students who work in sports medicine in general and football in particular to have more knowledge, cultivation, learning about sports medicine, player health care…

The sports medicine training class 2023 will take place in 2 days (June 27 and 28) at the VFF Headquater. During the two-day period, the trainees will focus on the following topics: checking the health of professional football players; emergency circulatory arrest during training and competition; assessment and monitoring-management of traumatic brain injury in training; rehydration and electrolytes during training and competition; musculoskeletal system injuries and treatment; standardization-treatment and recovery after ACL injury; assess the stages of a player’s physical recovery; physiotherapy treatment with mild and moderate musculoskeletal injuries…
