VFF Permanent Vice President Tran Quoc Tuan: “The FIFA World Cup 3rd Qualifier is the chance for Vietnamese football forwarding to the higher goal”.
Vietnam National team had an outstanding performance in the FIFA World Cup 2nd Qualifier, therefore joining in the round of 12 best teams in Asia. In the opinion of VFF Permanent Vice President Tran Quoc Tuan, joining in the final qualifier of World Cup 2022 is a good opportunity forward to the higher goal in the future.

Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan said that: “The World Cup 3rd qualifier is the round of 12 best teams in Asia. Therefore, playing with strong teams in the official competition is a valuable opportunity for the Vietnam team. We expect that this competition will help the Vietnam team to gain more experiences”.
According to the draw, Vietnam was in group B with Japan, Australia, Saudi Arabic, China, and Oman. Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan argued that 4 teams included Japan, Australia, Saudi Arabic, and China usually join in the final qualifier. In which, Japan, Australia, Saudi Arabic had many times join in World Cup. Therefore, this will be a different challenge for the team and required careful preparation.
As the plan, the matches of round 3rd will play in 2nd Sep 2021, 7th Sep 2021, 7th Oct 2021, 12th Oct 2021, 11th Nov 2021, 16th Nov 2021, 27th Jan 2022, 1st Feb 2022, and 24th Mar 2022. Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan stated that this is a busy calendar, especially in the circumstance of the COVID-19 pandemic. VFF and coaching assistants will make a detailed plan for the training camps and domestic competition to have the best preparation for the competition.
