Inspite of tireless efforts, Vietnam National team could not leave Zhejiang Yellow Dragon Sports Centre with one point. Striker Gao Lin netted a hat-trick as Chinagot their 2011 AFC Asian Cup qualifying campaign back on track with a 6-1 thrashing of Vietnam.

The hosts got off to the best possible start as Gao opened his account inside the first minute when he headed home Hao’s inviting corner.

He then squandered two more decent chances before Nguyen Vu Phong brought Vietnam level after nine minutes when he fired past keeper Song Zhenyu.

Gao restored China’s lead in the 20th minute, latching onto Huang Bowen’s through ball before rifling home a low shot and fullback Du Wei extended their advantage seven minutes later when he converted Du Zhenyu’s corner at the far post.

China were dominant in midfield and netted a fourth when Jiang collected the ball on the edge of the box after the Vietnam defence failed to clear adequately before clipping a shot into the back of the net.

The home side made it 5-1 shortly after the break when Hao slotted home Qu Bo’s pass. Zhou Haibin found the striker unmarked in the box and the youngster showed plenty of composure to apply the finish and complete a 6-1victory over the ASEAN champions.
