Before the team’s departure, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) meticulously prepared the advance arrangements. Mr. Đoàn Anh Tuấn, Director of the National Team Department, traveled to Malaysia a day earlier to coordinate with the host organizing committee to review the activity schedule and actively oversee the reception arrangements at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Additionally, the VFF proactively sent an official request to the Football Association of Malaysia seeking maximum support for the team’s entry procedures. Vice President Trần Anh Tú was directly appointed as the team’s delegation leader for the trip to Malaysia. Thanks to these efforts, Coach Kim Sang Sik and his players spent minimal time on formalities and smoothly traveled to their training base in Petaling Jaya.

Notably, images of Vietnamese fans in Malaysia holding national flags, fresh flowers, and messages of encouragement at the airport warmly welcomed the team, creating an uplifting atmosphere that boosted the players’ spirits from the very first moments on foreign soil. This support provided great motivation for Coach Kim Sang Sik and his squad.

Assessing the upcoming challenge, team captain Đỗ Duy Mạnh said: “Through the media, we know that the Malaysian team has several quality naturalized players. The upcoming match will certainly not be easy, especially playing at Bukit Jalil Stadium with the passionate support of the home fans. However, the whole team is in good spirits and actively preparing the final steps to aim for a favorable result.”

According to Đỗ Duy Mạnh, the coaching staff has proactively studied the opponent through match videos and will continue to conduct deeper analysis after arriving in Malaysia to develop an appropriate game plan. “We have experience playing at Bukit Jalil Stadium in the first leg of the 2018 AFF Cup final, so we fully understand the intense atmosphere there. The whole team will strive to adapt to the weather conditions and train hard to be as well-prepared as possible,” emphasized the captain of the Vietnam national team.

Besides the opponent’s personnel changes, Đỗ Duy Mạnh also noted that Southeast Asian football increasingly features many naturalized players, requiring teams to continuously adapt and put in greater effort. “The Vietnam national team never plays alone. We hope that fans will continue to accompany and cheer for us, adding motivation for the entire team in this important match,” he shared.

After settling into their accommodations, the entire team had lunch and took the opportunity to rest and recover their physical condition. According to the plan, the Vietnam national team will hold their first training session on Malaysian soil at 6 PM the same day, beginning the process of finalizing tactical and physical preparations ahead of the match against Malaysia, scheduled to take place at Bukit Jalil Stadium at 9 PM local time on June 10.
