Vietnam national team won 2-1 against the Cambodia national team in a friendly match in Binh Duong
Hai Long and Văn Vĩ scored early in the first half, giving Vietnam a 2-0 lead. Cambodia mounted a strong comeback after the break and pulled one back through a goal by Bong Samuel, but coach Kim Sang Sik’s side held on to secure the win. This victory completed a smooth test as Vietnam prepares for their upcoming match against Laos in the final qualifying round for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.
The match began cautiously, with both teams mainly contesting possession in midfield. In the 11th minute, Văn Thanh had a chance to score after a punch clearance from goalkeeper Keo Soksela, but his shot was off target. The Vietnam national team then took control of the game and, in the 25th minute, broke the deadlock when Kan Mo fouled Doãn Ngọc Tân, giving Hai Long the opportunity to take a brilliant free kick, putting Vietnam 1-0 ahead.
In the following moments, Coach Kim Sang Sik made a personnel change, substituting Việt Hưng for Văn Vĩ. In the 32nd minute, after a challenge by Văn Thanh following a cross from Tiến Dũng, Văn Vĩ was quick to pounce on the loose ball and score, doubling the lead to 2-0. Four minutes later, Văn Vĩ made another impact with a well-placed assist to Hai Long, but his teammate’s shot was denied by the Cambodian goalkeeper.
At the start of the second half, Tiến Linh replaced Tuấn Hải, but Vietnam’s attacking line failed to capitalize on the opportunities they created. Meanwhile, Cambodia’s efforts paid off as they pulled one back. In the 53rd minute, Bong Samuel took advantage of a gap in Vietnam’s defense and unleashed a powerful long-range shot, beating goalkeeper Đình Triệu to make it 2-1.
The boost in morale after the goal helped Cambodia play better, but they were still unable to create any further surprises. They ultimately accepted a 1-2 defeat to the reigning Southeast Asian champions.
