Vietnam Petro Gas V-League round 15: The Cong secure three precious points

Newcomer More’s goal in the 85th minute earned The Cong a 2-1 win at Hai Phong in a burning game at Hang Day stadium yesterday.

Although 2002 world champion Delnison de Oliveira did not play against The Cong due to his injury, many fans from Hai Phong came to support their home team. Hai Phong’s manager Vuong Tien Dung hoped Denilson would be ready to play from June 21.

Hai Phong started the game with great confidence and took an early lead in the 6th minute when skipper Leandro headed home from Bernard’s fine cross. After the goal, The Cong tried to fight back, but could not equlise.

After the break everything was changed. The Cong intensified their attacks and their efforts paid off. In the 54th minute, newcomer Lima made use of Hai Phong goalkeeper’s mistake to score the equaliser with his header. It was newcomer More who scored the winner in the 84th minute, helping The Cong secure three precious points.

This is a very important victory for The Cong and manager Le Thuy Hai. Beating Hai phong 2-1, The Cong temporarily moved out of the relegation zone.

At Go Dau stadium, hosts Binh Duong came back from behind to trounce Dong Thap 4-3 in an attractive game. Nhemi, Kesley, Mbabazi, Hoang Vuong scored for Binh Duong while Dong Thap’s three goals were scored by domestic footballers: Quy Suu, Duoc Em and Van Nghia.

Meanwhile, Da Nang edged T&T Hanoi 2-1, Nam Dinh beat hosts Thanh Hoa 1-0 and Dong Tam Long An demolished Military Zone IV 4-1. The match between Khanh Hoa and Song Lam Nghe An ended in a 2-2 draw.

The game between Hoang Anh Gia Lai and Ho Chi Minh City club was postponed because of six Hoang Anh Gia Lai’s members entering the hospital.
