The tournament provides an important international platform for emerging young talents and further strengthens cooperation in youth football development between Vietnam Football Federation and its regional partners. Vietnam will compete in the CommBank Emerging Matildas Championships, the U15 girls’ competition of the tournament, which will be held at the Home of the Matildas training facility in Bundoora, Australia.

The event will bring together some of Australia’s most promising young players, offering the Vietnam U15 women’s team valuable opportunities to gain international match experience and compete against high-quality opposition. Vietnam has established itself as one of the leading nations in women’s football development in Southeast Asia.

In recent years, Vietnamese women’s football has achieved several notable milestones, including its historic debut at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, a quarter-final appearance at the AFC Women’s Asian Cup, and medal-winning performances at both the ASEAN Women’s Championships and the Southeast Asian Games.

Participation in the CommBank Emerging Championships is expected to provide the young Vietnamese players with valuable exposure to international competition at an early stage of their development. The experience gained from facing strong regional opponents will contribute to the long-term growth of Vietnam’s women’s football and support the federation’s strategy of investing in youth development. The inclusion of international teams in the tournament also reflects the growing collaboration between Football Australia and the Vietnam Football Federation in promoting youth football pathways and creating more opportunities for young players to compete at an international level.

Alongside Vietnam’s participation in the girls’ competition, the U15 boys’ team from JFA Academy, under the Japan Football Association, will take part in the CommBank Emerging Socceroos Championships, further enhancing the tournament’s international profile.

The CommBank Emerging Championships has increasingly become an important platform for identifying and nurturing the next generation of football talent in the region, and Vietnam’s participation highlights the country’s continued commitment to developing women’s football for the future.
