Vietnam’s Tran Quoc Tuan, Winston Lee of Singapore won two of the seats from ASEAN while U Zaw Zaw from Myanmar retained his seat to complete the three spots in the AFC Executive Committee.

Winstons earned 33 votes, Tran 30 and Zaw 23 – enough to see them earn their places ahead of Timor Leste’s Francisco Kalbaudi (20 votes) and Indonesia’s Nurdin Halid (21 votes).

 

 

Thailand’s Worawi Makudi withdrew from the race after retaining his FIFA Executive Committee seat.

 

Twelve members were on Thursday voted into the AFC Executive Committee during the 24th AFC Congress.

 

The voting was carried out regionally with each of the four zones delivering three members.

 

East Zone (three positions)

Zhang Jilong, of China, pulled out of the race having earlier been voted in as an AFC Vice President.

As a result, Mongolia’s Ganbold Buyannemekh, Japan’s Kohzo Tashima and Richard Lai ofGuam, were unopposed.

 

West Zone (three positions)

Two rounds of voting were required to decide these two positions.

Sheikh Ali Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, won the first round with 29 votes to earn his place.

In the second round, Hafez Al Medlej of Saudi Arabia and Oman’s Khalid Hamed Al Busaidi each earned 27 votes to win their places in the Executive Committee.

Failing to retain his seat was Iraq’s Hussein Saeed while Lebanon’s Rahif Alameh was also eliminated.

 

South Central Zone (three positions)

The sub-continental trio of Ali Azim (Maldives), Praful Patel (India) and Makhdoom Syed Faisal (Pakistan) garnered enough votes to take the three places on the Executive Committee.

Azim had 27 votes, Patel 26 and Makhdoom 24. Other candidates were Sardor Rakhmatullaev, of Uzbekistan (22 votes) and Suhrob Qosimov of Tajikistan (nine votes).
