Women’s football group A, May 14: Winning Cambodia, Vietnam women’s team straight into the semi-finals
After the match, the VFF Standing Committee and Acting President Tran Quoc Tuan congratulated the women’s team’s results and wished the whole team to stay healthy and continue to focus on playing well in the semi-finals. The Committee awarded the whole team 200 million VND.
Entering the game with confidence, the Vietnamese team continuously created many opportunities to threaten the opponent’s goal. In the 6th minute, from a header, Ngan Thi Van Su scored the opening goal for the Vietnamese team.
After that, head coach Mai Duc Chung’s team continued to raise the tempo, but no more goals were scored in the first half.
Entering the second half, Hai Yen’s goal in the 58th minute opened the way for the Vietnamese team to attack goalkeeper Chen Soveat. In turn, the next 5 goals were scored by Tuyet Dung (65′), Nguyen Thi Van (77′), Tran Thi Thu (79′), Ngan Thi Van Su (81′) and Duong Thi Van (87′).
With this victory, the Vietnamese team lift the top of Group A and went straight to the semi-finals of the 31st SEA Games women’s football.
The opponent of the Vietnamese team in the semi-finals on May 18 will be determined after the last match of Group B tomorrow (May 15).
