Mr Phan Thanh Hung withdraws his position as the Head Coach of Vietnam Men’s National team

After the unexpected performance and results of Vietnam National team at AFF Suzuki Cup 2012, this aternoon (5th Dec 2012), Emergency Committee of Vietnam Football Federation and National Coaches Committee had a meeting with Head of Delegation and Vietnam National Team’s Coaching Board to receive the report on the preparation process and participation at AFF Suzuki Cup 2012. Mr Nguyen Trong Hy – VFF President said the meeting was taken place in contributive and straight way since the Vietnam National team only has more than 40 days for the next concentration to prepare for the ASIAN CUP 2015 – Qualifying Competition.

The report of Mr PHAN THANH HUNG specifically showed out advantages and disadvantages in the preparation as well as the participation at AFF Suzuki Cup 2012. Mr Hung also concluded that” There have been many factors resulting in the unsuccessful performance and results of the team at AFF Suzuki Cup in which the prominent reason is the weakness at technical areas during the participation at the Competition”.

As the Head Coach of the team, after the team’s unsuccessful performance in which the main reasons came from technical weakness, Mr PHAN THANH  HUNG would like to wholly responsible for the unexpected results of the team and withdraw from the Coaching Board in the upcoming schedule of National team. Explaining on this decision, Mr HUNG confirmed that he had not been under any pressure from VFF and he thought that his withdrawal might be better for the National team.

On behalf of VFF leaders, Mr LE HUNG DUNG – Vice President said that after the withdrawal of Head Coach position from Mr PHAN THANH HUNG, VFF Emergency Committee discussed and agreed with Mr HUNG’s decision.

The first mission at this moment is to find the best Head Coach for National team to prepare for Competitions in 2013 and in the VFF Exco Committee Meeting due to taken place on 13thDecember 2012, this matter will be brough out to discuss in order to find the best solution.

Mr Nguyen Sy Hien – Chairman of National Coaches Committee also recognized that the Committee was partially responsible for the results of the National Team at AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 as in some moments the consultation from the Committee actually had not been drastic.

As for the list of players with unmotivated performance at AFF Cup 2012 which badly influenced on the team’s image, Vice President LE HUNG DUNG confirmed that there would be no specific list to  be announced, but these players will no longer be called up for National team even though they are good players.
