2026 National U21 Championship Finals – FPT Play Cup: Quarter-final Line-up Confirmed
The final two Group C matches of the 2026 National U21 Championship Finals – FPT Play Cup concluded on the afternoon of July 17, completing the line-up of eight teams that have secured places in the quarter-finals.
The headline fixture of the final round saw PVF take on Cong An Ha Noi. Heading into the match, PVF topped Group C, while Cong An Ha Noi were in third place. A draw would be enough for PVF to secure top spot and guarantee progression, while it would also leave Cong An Ha Noi well placed to advance to the quarter-finals.
With both sides aware of the favourable permutations, the match began at a cautious pace. PVF enjoyed more possession and looked to dictate play, but Cong An Ha Noi remained well organised defensively and left few spaces to exploit. During the opening 20 minutes, neither side was able to create a clear-cut scoring opportunity.
The first half ended goalless, with most of the action concentrated in midfield. After the restart, PVF continued to enjoy the lion’s share of possession but were unable to break down Cong An Ha Noi’s disciplined defensive setup. The match eventually finished 0-0, a result that ensured PVF retained top spot in Group C.
In the other Group C fixture, SHB Da Nang faced Dong Nai. Despite being the pre-match favourites and needing only a positive result to advance, the Central side struggled to find a way through Dong Nai’s compact defensive organisation. The first half ended without a goal.
The match took an unexpected turn after the break as Dong Nai struck twice in quick succession. Tuấn Sang broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute following a well-worked attacking move, before Minh Toàn calmly converted a penalty seven minutes later to double Dong Nai’s advantage at 2-0.
Despite claiming a 2-0 victory, Dong Nai were eliminated after finishing bottom of Group C with three points. SHB Da Nang, meanwhile, progressed to the quarter-finals as the group’s runners-up.
The quarter-final line-up is now complete, with Hanoi and PVF-CAND advancing from Group A; The Cong Viettel and Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA) from Group B; PVF and SHB Da Nang from Group C; while LPBank HAGL and Cong An Ha Noi qualified as the two best third-placed teams.
