5th Plenum of the 8th VFF Executive Committee

Delegates including Deputy Minister, VFF President Le Khanh Hai; VFF Permanent Vice President Tran Quoc Tuan; VFF Vice President Cao Van Chong; Permanent Member of the VFF Executive Committee Tran Anh Tu; members of the VFF Executive Committee, Director of Departments: Examination, Discipline, Resolution of complaints, Chairman of the National Coaching Council, representatives of the Football newspaper, Vietnam Young Football Training Centre, Vietnam Professional Football (VPF). The General Secretary and the Deputy General Secretary of VFF reported about activities at the meeting.

2019 was a wonderful year of Vietnamese football. Along with the events and activities nationwide, the national teams and youth teams achieved excellent results at the official FIFA, AFC and AFF championships, especially, the quarterfinals of the Asian Cup 2019, the AFF Suzuki Cup 2019 and the 6th SEA Games gold medal of the national women’s team. Along with the outstanding achievement of the SEA Games 30 title won by the U22 national team, for the first time in the history, both men and women national team won gold medals, contributing to the success of Vietnamese sports delegation at SEA Games 30.

In 2019, many activities achieved outstanding results. The achievements of the national team, especially young teams, affecting positively to the image of Vietnamese football in the international arena. They helped Vietnam’s teams to gain valuable experiences for the sustainable development in the future.

At the meeting, delegates discussed then approved the summary report of 2019 and plans for 2020. The documents will be submitted to the VFF Annual Meeting 2019. Delegates also agreed with the report of VFF. The lists of pending members, including Ha Giang Province Football Federation and Ba Ria – Vung Tau Football Club, will be submitted to the VFF Annual Meeting 2019 for approval. At the meeting, delegates agreed on the agenda, location and venue for the VFF Annual Meeting 2019.

Delegates also agreed on plans for 2020’ leagues and decided which football clubs will compete at the AFC and AFF Club Championship. Delegates agreed on the numbers of football clubs will participate at V-League and National Cup. Additionally, delegates agreed with the proposal of researching, amending, supplementing and completing the content of the Professional Football Regulations in order to meet the requirements.

Particularly, delegates approved the investment for “Completing the facilities for Vietnam Youth Football Training Centre” project by FIFA Forward. This would help Vietnam Youth Football Training Centre to meet the demands for the trainings of national teams as well as young talents.

In 2019, revenue from marketing and campaigning of VFF exceeded 150% of the set target. The national teams have 11 sponsors. National competitions received funds from many businesses (The National Cup division 2 has a sponsor for the first time. Businesses also singed contract as sponsor for leagues for youths…).

The remarkable results in 2019 is motivations for further development of Vietnam Football in 2020 and the following years.

On December 29, the 2019 VFF Annual Meeting will be held at the VFF. This is an opportunity for members of VFF to evaluate and summarize the results of 2019 and set missions for 2020.
