Vietnam U23 team forwards to the final match at the Dubai Cup 2022
On the evening of March 29, the U23 Vietnam team will have a match against Uzbekistan U23 at the Dubai Cup 2022. Despite certain difficulties due to the influence of the Covid-19 epidemic, the whole team is still actively looking forward to the best result in the final match at this tournament.
Doctor Choi Ju Young is the latest member who could not attend the training session of the U23 Vietnam team before the match against U23 Uzbekistan due to health reasons and had to be isolated. In return, U23 Vietnam has welcomed the return of midfielder Thai Ba Sang in the most energetic state.
At the training session yesterday afternoon, after a few minutes of warm-up, the players were arranged by the coaching assistants to divide the team into two opposing kick groups. This is the time when U23 Vietnam continues to have more tests, complete the assembly of the squad to move towards further goals.
In an interview before the training session, midfielder Dung Quang Nho said: “Nho and my teammates have a very high goal of competing against strong opponents in this tournament. In addition to the familiar central midfield position, Quang Nho personally is also being tested in new positions such as full-back, central defender and trying to adapt as quickly as possible. The whole team will be determined to leave their mark in the final match in Dubai.”
Meanwhile, midfielder Huynh Cong Den also shared his lessons learned from playing against strong teams in the Dubai Cup 2022 in the last two matches, Iraq and Croatia. “They are very tall and do not give the U23 Vietnam players time to handle the ball. Therefore, we had to handle the situation very quickly and not put ourselves in a 1-1 dispute with them. Physically, we are also quite good, but in terms of confidence, we are still a bit lacking, not boldly holding the ball. Partly because the opponent exerts a lot of pressure, the U23 defenders in Vietnam are forced to play firmly and kick the ball a lot,” commented Huynh Cong Den.
Based on the weaknesses revealed after the last two matches, the coaching assistants asked the players to improve their ability to control the game, as well as the distance the squad needs to be connected in situations of pressing the opponent. .
The match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Uzbekistan will start at 4 pm local time (ie 19 pm Vietnam time) tonight (March 29) at Al Awir Stadium.
Head coach Kapadze Tamur (U23 Uzbekistan):
“U23 Vietnam has prepared well and will also attend the upcoming U23 Asian Cup. We have carefully analyzed their playstyle. It’s been a great tournament, we’ve had good matches against UAE and Saudi Arabia, and Vietnam has also faced strong opponents like Iraq and Croatia. That is very important. Vietnam has a good coach, strong and quality players. It is difficult to read the names of Vietnamese players correctly, but I know that Vietnam has a good attacking style, with many good midfielders.
Actually we could have done better because of good qualified players, but unfortunately the team had too little time to prepare in Dubai. Before this tournament we didn’t have a foreign training session, only the previous National Championship. But now things are becoming more positive and Uzbekistan U23 will aim for the best at the upcoming AFC U23 Championship.”
