Vietnam U23 team has arrived in the UAE, ready for the training session ahead of the 2022 AFC U23 Asian Cup
After a journey of nearly 12 hours with the starting point from Hanoi and transit in Ho Chi Minh City, this morning (May 25) Vietnam U23 team arrived in Dubai, UAE to enter the training session ahead of the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2022.

The flight arrived at Dubai International Airport at 4 a.m (local time). At this time, the number of visitors was still quite empty, so it didn’t take long for the team to complete immigration procedures. In addition, the team also received the enthusiastic attention of the Vietnamese Embassy in the UAE while First Secretary Nguyen Van Tuan directly came to the airport to welcome and support the whole team.
Before travelling to the UAE for training, head coach Gong Oh-kyun also made a decision to select 25 players, including a combination of players who had successfully defended the men’s football gold medal at SEA Games 31 and the players were crowned champions at the 2022 AFF U22 Championship, which he directly coached over the past time. Talking about this combination, the new head coach of the U23 Vietnam team believes that the players of the U23 Vietnam team competing at the 31st SEA Games will soon catch up with his new tactics. Head coach Gong Oh-kyun expects the players to do their best. “I am responsible for the results and the players should do their best,” said Mr. Gong Oh-kyun.
In the UAE, U23 Vietnam is arranged to stay at a hotel located more than 10 minutes by bus from the airport and about 4km from the training field, which is very convenient for training plans. Before the team left for the UAE, VFF also soon deployed logistics to serve the team by signing a contract with a professional logistics company of the UAE, ensuring the most optimal conditions for the team of head coach Gong Oh-kyun. Another noteworthy point, the hotel has a Vietnamese chef, so it is also very convenient to organize nutritious and delicious meals for the players.
19:00 tonight local time (22:00 Vietnam time), U23 Vietnam team will start the first training session in the UAE. On May 28, head coach Gong Oh-kyun will have the opportunity to review his team through a friendly match between U23 Vietnam and U23 UAE. This is a match for the professional purposes of the coaching assistants of the two teams, so it will be closed, without spectators and media.
