U19 International Tournament, U19 Vietnam vs U19 Uzbekistan: Regret

It seems that the U19 Vietnam team played with confidence against a highly-rated U19 Uzbekistan side. However, it’s unfortunate that in the 90+2 minute, U19 Vietnam conceded a 1-2 defeat.

Facing a highly-rated U19 Uzbekistan, the players under Coach Hua Hien Vinh started the game with great confidence, engaging in an open and competitive style of play. U19 Vietnam had a clear opportunity to score in the 13th minute when Quang Kiet found himself in a promising position after receiving a pass from his teammate. However, it’s unfortunate that he couldn’t make contact with the ball properly, missing out on an excellent scoring chance for the home team.

In that opening phase of the game, U19 Uzbekistan also created quite a few threatening moments towards the goal of U19 Vietnam. However, the sensible interventions of goalkeeper Bao Ngoc, as well as the lack of sharpness in their finishing, prevented Nishonov’s team from scoring in the official 45 minutes of play. In fact, U19 Uzbekistan came close to conceding a goal in the 39th minute when, in a long ball situation from his teammate, Ngoc Chien broke down the left flank and unleashed a beautiful curling shot towards the far corner. Unfortunately, the ball narrowly missed the upright.

Just when it seemed like the first half would end with a 0-0 scoreline, in the second minute of stoppage time, during a chaotic situation inside the 16.50-meter box of U19 Vietnam, Saidnurullaev managed to beat goalkeeper Bao Ngoc, giving the U19 Uzbekistan team the lead. Pushed into a difficult situation, U19 Vietnam had to push forward aggressively in the second half. Coach Hua Hien Hinh also made some substitutions to increase attacking strength. With efforts in the evenly contested match, U19 Vietnam equalized in the 74th minute. From a well-coordinated move, goalkeeper Bao Ngoc launched a long ball to Long Vu – a substitute player, who made a breakthrough past the defenders and the Uzbekistan goalkeeper to score.

The goal conceded forced U19 Uzbekistan to increase pressure and create some clear scoring opportunities towards the goal of U19 Vietnam. However, the excellence of Bao Ngoc helped the home team stand firm during regular time. It seemed like the 1-1 draw would be maintained until the second minute of stoppage time when, in a coordinated set-piece situation, Komilov headed in the winning goal to secure a 2-1 victory for U19 Uzbekistan. Thus, U19 Vietnam ended the friendly tournament in China with losses to U19 China (0-1), U19 South Korea (0-1), and U19 Uzbekistan (1-2).
