Beating U13 SLNA in the penalty shootout, U13 Nam Dinh claimed their first-ever championship title
Defeating U13 SLNA 3-2 in a dramatic penalty shootout, U13 Nam Dinh clinched their first-ever national U13 championship title in 2025.
Before the final took place, most experts favored U13 SLNA, who had already won the tournament 10 times. However, football is never predictable, and surprises can always happen.
Being considered the underdogs, U13 Nam Dinh entered the match with greater comfort and confidence. In contrast, U13 SLNA appeared more tense. Although they created several dangerous chances—and could have taken the lead early on had their strikers been more clinical—the young team from Nghe An struggled to find the net.
On an afternoon of bad luck, U13 SLNA’s attacking efforts couldn’t break through Nam Dinh’s solid defense. As their missed opportunities piled up in frustration, U13 Nam Dinh, despite creating few threats, stuck to their composed and steady approach—enough to take the match into a decisive penalty shootout.
Entering the tense penalty shootout, pressure got the better of U13 SLNA, leading them to miss three spot-kicks. Although their goalkeeper made two impressive saves, it wasn’t enough to prevent a 2-3 defeat in the decisive shootout.
With this result, U13 Nam Dinh claimed their first-ever title in the 28th edition of the U13 National Championship in 2025. Meanwhile, U13 SLNA missed out on what would have been their 11th championship crown.
At the closing ceremony, the tournament organizers awarded the championship trophy to U13 Nam Dinh, with U13 SLNA finishing as runners-up. U13 SHB Da Nang and U13 Haduwaco Hai Duong shared third place. Additionally, Haduwaco Hai Duong received the Fair Play Award from sponsor Động Lực, while new champions U13 Nam Dinh were honored with the Style of Play Award from sponsor Yamaha.
