March 2026 FIFA Days: Vietnam National Team climbs 9 places to break into World’s Top 100
According to the latest FIFA rankings released during the March 2026 FIFA Days, the Vietnam national team has officially returned to the world’s top 100, securing the 99th position.
Specifically, Coach Kim Sang-sik and his players reached 1,225.68 points, climbing 9 places and gaining 36.17 pointscompared to the last update. Notably, FIFA recognized the Vietnam national team as the biggest mover in this FIFA Days window.
Following Vietnam in terms of rank improvement are teams like Bosnia, Nepal, and Bhutan, all moving up 6 spots. Conversely, Malaysia became the biggest decliner, plummeting 17 places to 138th in the world; they were also overtaken by the Philippines, dropping to 5th in Southeast Asia.
In Asia, the top 5 remains a dominant group of the region’s football powerhouses: Japan (18th), Iran (21st), South Korea (25th), Australia (27th), and Uzbekistan (50th).
On the global stage, the top three positions belong to France, Spain, and Argentina, respectively.
A noteworthy highlight of the March 2026 FIFA Days is that FIFA has, for the first time, implemented a real-time ranking update mechanism. Consequently, the rankings of national teams (both men’s and women’s) can fluctuate while matches are still in progress.
Specifically, every goal scored in international matches can directly impact a team’s points and position, providing a more intuitive and dynamic view of global ranking shifts. However, these in-match rankings are only provisional. The official standings are confirmed only after all matches in the FIFA Days window have concluded.
While the calculation formula remains unchanged, the real-time mechanism is expected to help fans closely monitor their teams’ progress and add more excitement to international fixtures.
Returning to the world’s Top 100 is a significant milestone for the Vietnam national team, reflecting positive professional progress and the effectiveness of their recent preparation and performance. This will serve as a foundation for the team to aim for even higher goals in the near future.
