AFC Representatives Visit and Work with Vietnam U23 Ahead of the Opening of the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2026
On the eve of the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2026, AFC representatives together with the tournament’s Organizing Committee paid an official visit and held a working session with the Vietnam U23 team at the hotel where the team is staying during the competition.
During the meeting, AFC representatives extended New Year 2026 greetings to the entire coaching staff and players, and presented a commemorative plaque confirming the team’s official participation in the tournament. Team captain Khuat Van Khang represented Vietnam U23 in receiving this meaningful gift.
An important part of the meeting was a briefing by AFC representatives on regulations related to ethics and integrity in sport. The players and coaching staff were reminded of the importance of fair play.
In addition, the AFC Referees Department conducted a session to reiterate the Laws of the Game and key points that players need to pay particular attention to in officiating matters, including the use of VAR technology. This was a necessary step to help the team avoid unnecessary and controversial situations during the tournament.
As part of the working program, the AFC also conducted an inspection of the Vietnam U23 team’s official match kits. The inspection aimed to ensure that all details of the kits—from shirt number sizes and logos to sponsorship and marketing regulations—fully comply with AFC requirements. This inspection is a mandatory and routine procedure ahead of every continental tournament.
In Group A, Vietnam U23 will face a challenging opening match against Jordan U23 at 6:30 p.m. on January 6 (Vietnam time).
