AFC U23 Championship 2022 Qualifiers Draw will take place on Friday 9 July 2021
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has announced that the draw will take place on Friday, 9 July 2021 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
There are 43 teams participanted in the qualifier, in which there are 23 teams from West Zone and 20 teams from East Zone.
23 Western teams will be divided in 6 groups (5 groups with 4 teams, and 1 group with 3 teams). Meanwhile, 20 Eastern teams will be divided in 5 group 4 teams.
To prepare for the draw, AFC divided the teams into the pots according to the result of season 2020. U23 Vietnam is in the pot 1 of West Zone with Korea, Australia, Thailand, and DPR Korea.

Pot 2: Japan, China, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore
Pot 3: Hong Kong, Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia, Timor Leste
Pot 4: Taiwan, Mongolia, Philippines, Macau, Brunei
The AFC U23 Championship 2022 Qualifier will kick-off from Oct 23 to Oct 31, 2021. Due to the effect of COVID-19 pandemic, in each group, teams play each other once at a centralized venue. The 11 group winners and four best second placed teams (total 15 teams) advance to AFC U23 Asian Cup 2022, which will be played in Uzbekistan between 1 to 19 June 2022.
