Before the official document was sent to AFC to introduce Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan representing Southeast Asia to join the AFC Executive Committee for the term 2023-2027, the selection of Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan representing Southeast Asia has received high consensus during the AFF Council meeting and will be officially approved at the AFF Congress in March. After being approved by the AFF Congress, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan automatically assumes the position of the AFC Executive Committee for the term 2023-2027 as a representative of Southeast Asia without going through the voting as other self-nominated candidates at the Congress.

With this result, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan will have his fourth consecutive appearance on the AFC Executive Committee. The first time Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan was elected to this position was at the AFC Congress for the 2011-2015 term. Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan is also the first person in the history of Vietnamese football to join the top leadership of the Asian Football Confederation.

Also related to the election at the 33rd AFC Congress, current AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa is the only candidate for the AFC President for the term 2023-2027. As the regulation, Mr. Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa will be re-elected as President through voting at the Congress.

The Congress also elects 6 FIFA Council members, 5 Vice Presidents (divided equally among 5 regions of Asia), 5 female Executive Committee members (one of these will be FIFA Council members) and 9 member of the Executive Committee.
