Holding Vietnam to a 2-2 draw, on October 24, Singapore has won the championship title in the Ho Chi Minh City International Football Tournament-SJC Cup 2009.

 

The tournament is seen as a warm-up for the Vietnamese team to prepare for the qualifying round of the Asian Cup 2011

 

 

In another football match, the Republic of Korea (RoK) defeated Turkmenistan with an incredible score of 8-6 to win the second prize and push the host country Vietnam into third position.

 

Singapore was awarded US$20,000, the RoK team received US$10,000 and Vietnam was granted US$5,000.

 

In particular, Duris, No 9, of Singapore received an award for best football player and Duong Hong Son of Vietnam won the prize for best goalkeeper.

 

The SJC Cup 2009 was held in Thong Nhat Stadium, HCMCity on October 20-24, drawing the participation of four teams-Singapore, Turkmenistan, the RoK and the host Vietnam.

 

The tournament is seen as a warm-up for the Vietnamese team to prepare for the qualifying round of the Asian Cup 2011, where it will face off with Syria in Hanoi on November 14, and during the second leg in Syria on November 18.
