Tang Tuan and Cong Minh called up for Olympic team

The Vietnam Committee for Physical Education and Sports has approved a list of 20 players, who will be called up for the match with Indonesia.

Accordingly, Tang Tuan and Cong Minh have been given a chance after their impressive performances at Hoang Anh Gia Lai and Binh Duong.

Tang Tuan was the top scorer of Thanh Nien newspaper-sponsored under-21 football tournament when Hoang Anh Gia Lai finished runners-up. This season, with Hoang Anh Gia Lai”s foreign strikers producing a disappointing performances, Tang Tuan had more opportunities to play regularly with Hoang Anh Gia Lai senior team.

Cong Minh, meanwhile, has won manager Le Thuy Hai”s trust with Binh Duong, who were crowned champions of the first stage of the national football championship/V-League.

Tang Tuan and Cong Minh were called to replace Mai Tien Thanh and Vo Duy Nam, who will be missing the match with Indonesia. Tien Thanh was suspended after received two yellow cards in the previous matches, while Duy Nam is undergoing shoulder surgery.

The Olympic team will also welcome skipper Le Cong Vinh, playmaker Nguyen Minh Chuyen and winger Nguyen Vu Phong, who missed the trip to Beirut, Lebanon, on May 16.

Also, goalie Tran Duc Cuong will return after being suspended for the match in Lebanon. With the return of Tran Duc Cuong, Nguyen Thanh Tung, who was called up for the match in Beirut, has been removed from the Olympic team.

The Olympic team will be called up for training in Hanoi from June 1, instead of June 3.
